Meditech International Health Fair Concludes in Bogota

The VIII Meditech International Health Fair recently concluded in Bogota, Colombia, with roughly 11,000 visitors. With over 250 exhibitors from 17 countries, the trade fair showcased the latest innovations, applications, and developments in the industry. 

 

The trade fair was organized by Corferias, the Association of Clinics and Hospitals of Colombia (ACHC), and Messe Düsseldorf North America. Meditech is a member of Messe Düsseldorf’s MEDICAlliance portfolio of medical trade fairs worldwide.

 

This was the second Meditech event jointly organized by Corferias and Messe Düsseldorf North America, the U.S. subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf in Germany renowned for MEDICA, the world’s No.1 trade fair for the medical sector.  

 

Ana Garibello, Project Director at Corferias, stated: “The trade fair served as a hub for the continued development of the sector. We want to further improve this platform so that professionals have all the tools needed to strengthen the health sector in the country.”

 

The Meditech exhibits included an informative ancillary program, which included 50 academic sessions and the 3rd Symposium on Successful Solutions of Entities Allied to the Hospital Sector. Another highlight was the XV International Congress of Hospitals and Clinics, organized by the ACHC and opened by Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

 

Juan Carlos Giraldo, General Director of the ACHC, added: “This edition of Meditech has been important for us. We recognize the challenges that the health sector is going through but we are optimistic about the future and the trade fair is a vital sign that the sector is committed to providing health care and services to the country.”

 

The event featured about 20 conferences and attracted over 750 participants – mainly government authorities and managers of hospitals and clinics from Colombia, Central America, and South America. The VII National Safe Hospital Award was given to seven institutions.

 

“Colombia has an exciting and dynamic medical device market. Not only is Colombia Latin America’s third largest, but it is also strategically positioned as a gateway to the region making it an attractive destination for international suppliers and investors,” commented Ryan Klemm, Director, of International Events at Messe Düsseldorf North America.

 

This year, Meditech saw an increased number of exhibitors from abroad, coming from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, and the U.S.

 

The business roundtable held during Meditech with the support of ProColombia drew 53 buyers from Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Tobago, and the U.S. and Venezuela. A total of 109 exhibitors-exporters participated in the one-day event, 469 appointments were made and business opportunities worth nearly $2,8 million were reported to have been generated.

 

Meditech 2024 also featured the HealthTech Startup Park 2.0 with demonstrations of emerging technologies, simulations, and workshops held in conjunction with content partner Healthtech Colombia.

 

The next edition of Meditech in Bogota will take place in 2026.
